Audrey Horowitz is a pianist, teacher, and collaborative artist residing in McMinnville, Oregon. She has been teaching piano since 2013 and runs a piano studio in her home for all ages and abilities. She is an active member of Music Teachers National Association, Oregon Music Teachers Association and the Tualatin Valley local chapter.
Her piano journey began at age of 7 in the studio of Cindy Peterson-Peart of Beaverton, Oregon. She received her Bachelor of Music with honors in Piano Performance from Willamette University in 2015 under Dr. Anita King. Post graduation, she moved to Colorado where she spent 7 years teaching piano, accompanying, and hiking in the Rocky Mountains. In 2022 she moved back to Oregon and established her own piano studio in her new home in McMinnville. When not teaching, she enjoys sewing, spending time with family, and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Audrey knows firsthand how transformative learning a musical instrument can be and strives to impact a positive experience to those wishing to learn. She is passionately committed to meeting each student's unique needs. She has several years experience working in special education at a Montessori school and is comfortable working with all kinds of learners.
Audrey believes the most important part of lessons is the relationship built between her and her students. Getting to know the student's musical goals, interests, and learning style is the foundation of this relationship. The curriculum chosen develops staff reading, rhythm reading, music theory, history, and music appreciation and is supplemented with music selected by the student's interests. Her favorite part of lessons is fostering creativity with students and eliciting musicianship through imagery and storytelling.
